comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about ranking until somebody posts a number in c/meta · 5 points · 1 year ago

Agreed that the top comment is not the best answer. The ranking optimises for early agreement.

What is the appeal deadline on the letter?

Did you send a test amount first?

Nearly sent on the wrong network. The token symbol was identical and the address format was the only clue.

comment on the nausea thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/sideeffects · 1 points · 1 year ago

Yes — the day-two-to-day-four window is so consistent across this board that it is almost diagnostic.

Adding to this — holding the dose rather than stepping is the option people forget they have.

comment on someone explain moderation to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/meta · 6 points · 1 year ago

Careful — that would make individual moderation cases public by default, which is worse for the person complaining.

Agreed — concrete wording or it is not a proposal.

Same pattern here. It settled at a stable dose without me doing anything clever.

Right, and reading the actual supply notice rather than the coverage of it saves a fortnight of speculation.

Member and policy numbers redacted from the screenshot above.

This is the whole method. Answer the criterion they named, not the decision in general.

Push back: an unconfirmed transaction is not a missing payment. Wait for confirmations before escalating.

comment on [Results] 57 weeks on 1.0mg, full numbers, ask me anything boring in c/semaglutide · 0 points · 1 year ago

The weekly interval comes out of the half-life — roughly a week — so you are on a smooth curve rather than a series of spikes. That is also why moving your day slightly does very little.

comment on [Discussion] the formulary advice in here is 3 years out of date in c/insurancefights · 4 points · 1 year ago

Spent six weeks arguing in general terms and got nowhere. Two paragraphs quoting their own criteria turned it around in eleven days.

permalink

comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for half-life posts in c/glp1science · 1k points · 1 year ago

GIP receptor biology is genuinely unsettled — there is a live argument about agonism versus antagonism at the receptor — and the clinical results are robust regardless, which is an uncomfortable and interesting position.

NHS pathway or private prescription?

elise_ramos is right that the two routes are separate. A private prescription does not move you up the list.

comment on the disclosure question that gets asked weekly, answered properly in c/meta · 43 points · 1 year ago

Submissions older than a year are archived: readable, linkable, and closed to new comments. That keeps a three-year-old thread from being reopened with a reply nobody will see in context.

Agreed — and the hash is the receipt. Nothing else is.

comment on help me understand half-life, I have read the wiki twice in c/glp1science · 282 points · 2 years ago

Small fix — it slows gastric emptying, it does not halt it, and the distinction matters for the mechanism you are proposing.

comment on my TSH moved and I cannot work out whether sulphur burps are why in c/sideeffects · 33 points · 2 years ago

Disagree. Severe abdominal pain is not on the list of things to wait out, and this board should not be treating it as one.

Removed the dose recommendation.

This is the part I would underline for anyone skimming. Everything else in the thread is downstream of it.

Edited a wiki page for the first time and nothing bad happened, which is apparently the point.

permalink

comment on chargeback — 8 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/cryptopay · 4 points · 2 years ago

Network fees are set by chain congestion at the time of sending. They are paid to the network, not to the recipient, and they vary by hour as well as by chain.

Which nation, and which ICB if you are in England?

This is why national advice does not work here. It is commissioned locally and it varies.

comment on small win: plateau stopped being a problem at week 28 in c/semaglutide · 63 points · 2 years ago

Correct, and worth adding: the trial average is an average. Half the people in it did worse than 15% and were still on the drug.

permalink

comment on reading pricing threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly in c/glp1uk · 0 points · 2 years ago

Pharmacy pricing on a private prescription is set by the pharmacy. The spread between them in a given month is routinely substantial, which is why a tracker built from member reports is more useful than any headline.

Yes — the day-two-to-day-four window is so consistent across this board that it is almost diagnostic.

Disagreeing with this one line: that symptom is not on the wait-and-see list and should not be posted as though it is.

That figure is the 68-week trial mean, not a weekly rate.

Right, and the timescale is the bit that keeps getting lost. Judge a step at a month, not at a weekend.

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring external review at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/insurancefights · 74 points · 2 years ago

Appeal deadlines run from the date on the determination letter. They are strict, they are short, and a missed deadline usually forfeits that level entirely.
