comment on anyone else notice constipation kicking in around week 7 in c/sideeffects · 30 points · 4 months ago

I would be careful here. "Everyone gets this" is not true, and it makes the people who get something unusual assume they are fine when they should be asking.

Nobody warned me about injection-site soreness and I would have liked the warning. It was not dangerous, it was just deeply unpleasant and completely unexpected.

GLP-1 receptor agonism acts both peripherally — insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent way, slowed gastric emptying — and centrally, on appetite regulation. The central component is the better explanation for sustained intake reduction.

How long have you been on the list, and from what date?

Small fix — the shedding follows the rate of weight loss, not the compound, and it is temporary.

Asked for the policy bulletin by number and wrote the appeal against its criteria line by line. Approved on the second level after a flat first-level denial.

Correcting myself from earlier in the thread: I said week 12 and it was week 18. Same shape, wrong number.

Network fees are set by chain congestion at the time of sending. They are paid to the network, not to the recipient, and they vary by hour as well as by chain.

Yes — the same token symbol on two chains catches people constantly and it is unrecoverable.

Severe or persistent abdominal pain sits outside the pattern this board can usefully discuss. The honest answer there is that it needs someone who can examine you.

comment on genuine question about tier 3 that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/glp1uk · 47 points · 7 months ago

Pharmacy pricing on a private prescription is set by the pharmacy. The spread between them in a given month is routinely substantial, which is why a tracker built from member reports is more useful than any headline.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify receptor in c/glp1science · 3 points · 8 months ago

Receptor expression in a tissue is necessary but not sufficient for an effect. You also need the agonist to reach it at relevant exposure, and that is where a lot of confident mechanism talk falls down.

comment on receptor is the most under-discussed thing on this board in c/glp1science · 28 points · 8 months ago

Push back: a receptor being expressed in a tissue does not tell you the agonist reaches it at therapeutic exposure.

formulary_fighter is right that mechanism gives direction and not magnitude. Worth pinning.

Reflux was the one that got me. Stopped eating in the three hours before bed and it went from nightly to almost never.

Yes — four nations, four pathways, and threads that ignore that give people the wrong answer confidently.

Small fix — that is the network fee, not a supplier charge. The distinction matters for the complaint you are making.

Disagree with the tone strategy. Anger has never moved a determination; matching the criterion has.

Small correction: 2.4mg is the maintenance ceiling on the label, not the starting maintenance dose. The distinction matters for anyone reading this later.

the ladder exists because the gut needs the time, not because the pharmacy likes paperwork

That is a complaint rather than a proposal. Bring wording and it can actually be discussed.

A private prescription is an independent route: it does not affect NHS list position, and it is not a step in the same pathway.

The mental model that finally made this click for me: there are two curves, and people watch the wrong one.

ffmi_watcher is describing the standard shape here and it matches the trial data better than most anecdotes do.
