Overview — page 2 of 3

comment on three years of bloodwork threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/bloodwork · 1 points · 9 months ago

Careful — that is a question for whoever ordered the panel, and nobody in this thread can answer it responsibly.

comment on the lane question that gets asked weekly, answered properly in c/intlshipping · 12 points · 9 months ago

Agreed. Reporting by lane rather than by supplier is what made the tables here actually predictive.

comment on test results — 21 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/labresults · 26 points · 9 months ago

Right, and a point or two between services is ordinary. It is agreement, and every month somebody posts it as a scandal.

Substantial weight loss independently moves lipids, liver enzymes and several other markers. Attributing a change to a compound while losing weight is confounded by design.

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about carrier is guesswork in c/intlshipping · 0 points · 11 months ago

Posted my first lane report here without the month and got asked for it.

rohan_cardoso is right about regional stock. It changes the shape of the distribution, not just the mean.

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about dead space is guesswork in c/reconstitution · 1 points · 11 months ago

Yes, and the dead-space point is worth repeating: it is small, it is real, and it is the same for every draw.

comment on the DHL thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/intlshipping · 127 points · 1 year ago

Regional stock replaces an international lane with a domestic one. That is a structural change to the distribution, not a marginal improvement, and it is why the warehouse question matters more than the carrier question.

Yes — same lab, same fasting state, same rough time of day, or the comparison is doing nothing.

comment on ATTAIN: what the trials say vs what this community says in c/orforglipron · 41 points · 1 year ago

do not assume reconstitution intuitions apply, there is nothing to reconstitute

comment on someone explain PeptideMeter to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/labresults · 33 points · 1 year ago

Kept every report as a PDF with the batch in the filename. Two years in, it is the most useful folder I own.

comment on [Discussion] ferritin is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/bloodwork · 104 points · 1 year ago

Not convinced by the attribution. Weight loss alone moves that marker and you have no way to separate the two.

permalink

comment on Canada: Australia, and what it actually costs here in c/glp1aus · 28 points · 1 year ago

Are you quoting advice from before the compounded arrangements changed?

Adding the quickest step — ask the pharmacist to check the wholesaler.

permalink

comment on anyone else notice lipids kicking in around week 9 in c/bloodwork · 297 points · 1 year ago

Repeat testing before acting is standard practice for a reason: regression to the mean does a lot of work on single outlying values.

comment on non-peptide: the version I wish someone had shown me in week 1 in c/orforglipron · 2 points · 1 year ago

nothing containing this is approved anywhere and research material is not for human use

permalink

comment on the bacteriostatic water question that gets asked weekly, answered properly in c/reconstitution · 28 points · 1 year ago

That only works if the fill weight is exactly the label weight, and it usually is not exactly anything.

permalink

comment on EMS — 23 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/intlshipping · 65 points · 1 year ago

Yes — regional stock is the single biggest variable and it barely gets mentioned outside this board.

permalink

comment on the reconstitution thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/reconstitution · 418 points · 1 year ago

Pushback on the syringe advice: a U-100 barrel reads units of volume. Calling them "doses" is how the confusion starts.

comment on [Lab] QYB orfo — Medutest came back 99.2% against a claimed 99.0% in c/orforglipron · 144 points · 1 year ago

Because it is not a peptide, it is not subject to the same degradation pathways, does not require the absorption enhancers used for oral peptides, and can be formulated as a conventional tablet.

comment on [Discussion] reship is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/intlshipping · 36 points · 1 year ago

A quoted lead time is a commitment you can evaluate. Measuring quoted against actual across several orders tells you more about an operation than the raw speed does.

comment on [Meta] the concentration rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining in c/reconstitution · 76 points · 1 year ago

How many mg in the vial and how many mL are you adding?

permalink

comment on [Question] reconstitution — what am I missing here in c/reconstitution · 14 points · 1 year ago

Are you accounting for the powder volume, or is that where the confusion is?

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about eGFR actually comes from A1c threads in c/bloodwork · 77 points · 1 year ago

That is a non-fasting value and the interval you are comparing it against is a fasting one.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about mg/mL until somebody posts a number in c/reconstitution · 74 points · 1 year ago

Adding more water does not change how much peptide is in the vial. It changes the concentration, which changes the volume you draw for the same amount. That is the entire relationship.

comment on [Question] DHL — what am I missing here in c/intlshipping · 49 points · 1 year ago

Was it shipped from a regional warehouse or from origin?

permalink

Cosigning on asking the pharmacy to check the wholesaler. It converts speculation into a fact in one phone call.

comment on [Vendor] JEEP order #3 — Ireland, 21 days, no drama, receipts inside in c/intlshipping · 86 points · 1 year ago

Median transit is the useful statistic. The minimum is a story about one shipment and the mean is dragged around by a single hold.

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about baseline labs until somebody posts a number in c/bloodwork · 352 points · 1 year ago

Different laboratories use different assay platforms with different calibration. Comparing across labs adds a systematic offset that is invisible on the report.

That figure is a private price at one pharmacy, not a national one.
