Weight is noisy. A 7-day rolling average is the only line worth looking at.

comment on why does nobody talk about SURPASS in c/tirzepatide · 812 points · 1 months ago
The distribution matters more than the mean. In the trial population the interquartile spread was wide enough that two honest people can have completely different runs on the same arm.
comment on constipation: what the trials say vs what this community says in c/sideeffects · 54 points · 1 months ago
Nothing in this thread is medical advice, including this comment. I am describing a mechanism, not telling anybody what to do about their own week.
comment on what would you tell week-1 you about fatigue in c/sideeffects · 12 points · 2 months ago
This. A bad fortnight after a step is expected. A bad quarter is a reason to talk to somebody who knows your history.

comment on stalled for 14 weeks at 7.5mg and I refuse to panic this time in c/newbiequestions · 161 points · 2 months ago
The vocabulary, once, since half the questions here are really vocabulary questions.
Titration is stepping the dose up slowly for tolerance. Reconstitution is adding water to a freeze-dried powder. Bacteriostatic water contains a preservative; sterile water does not. COA is a certificate of analysis — a lab document about one batch. Area percent is a purity measure from that document, and it is not the amount of peptide in the vial. Units are a volume on an insulin syringe, not a dose.
That is most of the jargon on this site. The wiki has the longer version of each and it is linked in the sidebar.

Bought four different things to fix my sulphur burps. What actually worked was eating half as fast.

My TSH moved and it turned out to have nothing to do with glucose at all.

Assumed the weight endpoints from the obesity trials applied to my situation. They are different programmes.
comment on am I the only one who found long term harder than the injections in c/maintenancephase · 26 points · 3 months ago
Maintenance is the phase with the least published guidance and the most individual variation, which is precisely why board consensus here is worth less than usual.
comment on my hs-CRP moved and I cannot work out whether heart rate is why in c/sideeffects · 59 points · 3 months ago
Left up.
Disagreeing with this one line: that symptom is not on the wait-and-see list and should not be posted as though it is.

Cosigning the wiki point, and also: ask anyway. The wiki cannot tell you it understood your question.

no tracking numbers, ever
comment on [Meta] the log rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining in c/dosinglogs · 92 points · 4 months ago
Retitled — a log is a record, not a protocol, and the original read as a schedule for others to follow.
comment on anyone else notice constipation kicking in around week 7 in c/sideeffects · 13 points · 4 months ago
Disagree. Severe abdominal pain is not on the list of things to wait out, and this board should not be treating it as one.
comment on switched from 2.5mg to 15mg and muscle cramps got better, not worse in c/dosinglogs · 8 points · 4 months ago
Small fix — that is a reconstructed entry rather than a contemporaneous one, and the post presents it as the latter.
comment on switched from 2.5mg to 15mg and muscle cramps got better, not worse in c/dosinglogs · 35 points · 4 months ago
Contemporaneous records do not drift; reconstructed ones do, and the drift is systematic rather than random because memory smooths.
Disagreeing with this bit: daily weighing gives you noise and costs you something.
comment on the dose stretching thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/maintenancephase · 67 points · 4 months ago
Small fix — you have described interval stretching and called it a dose reduction. The exposure profiles differ.
comment on the dose stretching thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/maintenancephase · 171 points · 4 months ago
Agreed. Lowest effective dose is the actual maintenance question and it gets almost no airtime next to the escalation threads.

Is the concentration recorded anywhere in the log?
comment on carrier — 23 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/intlshipping · 209 points · 5 months ago
Kept a spreadsheet of quoted versus actual across a year. The quote held; the variance was all in the last mile.
comment on [Question] how do you actually verify glycaemic control in c/t2dglp1 · 11 points · 5 months ago
Postprandial excursions flattened out first and the fasting number took months to follow. Nobody had told me to expect that order.
comment on does personal import actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/customs · 6 points · 5 months ago
This. Ordering from regional stock takes the entire question off the table, which is why it comes up in every one of these threads.
comment on my ApoB moved and I cannot work out whether beginner is why in c/newbiequestions · 16 points · 5 months ago
Small correction, said kindly: those are two different products with similar names, and the difference matters for a multi-draw vial.
comment on [Discussion] lowest effective dose is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/maintenancephase · 7 points · 6 months ago
Correction: that trial measured regain after withdrawal, not failure of the drug during treatment. Very different claim.

comment on tried tracking for 13 weeks. here is what happened. in c/dosinglogs · 122 points · 6 months ago
A log is only interpretable if the conditions are consistent. Same day, same time, same state, same scale — otherwise you are recording measurement variability rather than change.
comment on [Discussion] we are measuring long term at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/maintenancephase · 83 points · 7 months ago
Drifted up 10kg over a winter and panicked. It came back off without any change, which is apparently just what weight does.

Declared value and product description are chosen by the shipper. Asking what they use is a legitimate pre-order question and the answer tells you how routine this is for them.
comment on [Lab] CPC orfo — Janoshik came back 98.3% against a claimed 97.5% in c/orforglipron · 57 points · 7 months ago
The analytical point, which this board keeps getting wrong by importing habits from the peptide side.
For a peptide, purity is typically reported as area percent by HPLC with identity by mass spectrometry, and the impurity classes are things like deletion and oxidation products. For a small molecule the relevant impurities are synthetic intermediates, degradants and residual solvents, and identity is established differently.
So the certificate you would want looks different, the questions to ask are different, and a "purity" figure quoted here is not comparable to one quoted on the peptide boards. Anybody posting a result should say what method produced it, which is good practice everywhere and essential here.
comment on [Results] 87 weeks, 17kg, and reflux was the hard part in c/sideeffects · 36 points · 8 months ago
Reflux was the one that got me. Stopped eating in the three hours before bed and it went from nightly to almost never.
comment on is it normal to get injection-site soreness at week 44 in c/sideeffects · 302 points · 8 months ago
Keeping a log, and what to put in it.
One line a day: dose, day since injection, what the symptom was and how bad out of five, and roughly what you ate. Two months of that fits on one page and the pattern is obvious on paper in a way it never is in your head.
Mine showed a clean day-two-to-day-four window I had been describing as "random". Once you can see the pattern you can plan around it, and planning around it is most of the relief.
comment on [Discussion] first time is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/newbiequestions · 1 points · 8 months ago
The injection was scarier in my head than in reality. It took about ten seconds and I felt slightly silly afterwards.

Left up. Dates, consistent conditions and annotations, which is the standard here.
comment on the constipation thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/sideeffects · 54 points · 9 months ago
The pattern almost everyone here describes, written out once so it can be linked.
A step up is followed by a rough window — commonly nausea arriving the day after the shot and easing by day four, worst in the first fortnight, then flattening out. At a stable dose it usually settles further. Constipation and fatigue tend to track intake and fluid rather than the compound directly, which is why the unglamorous answers work.
What sits outside that pattern: severe pain, symptoms that appear from nowhere weeks into a stable dose, or anything getting worse rather than better over a month. None of that is a board question and none of us can answer it for you.

Chased the last three kilos with a dose increase and got a fortnight of injection-site soreness and no change in the number.
