[Discussion] nausea is doing more work than we give it credit for

Discussionbranch of 16 comments

nausea is doing more work than we give it credit for. Change my mind, genuinely — I have no stake in being right about this. Keeping a log, and what to put in it. One line a day: dose, day since injection, what the symptom was and how bad out of five, and roughly what you ate. Two months of that fits on one page and…

Severe or persistent abdominal pain sits outside the pattern this board can usefully discuss. The honest answer there is that it needs someone who can examine you.

Severe, or unpleasant? They are genuinely different questions and the answers diverge.

Nobody warned me about constipation and I would have liked the warning. It was not dangerous, it was just deeply unpleasant and completely unexpected.

Flair set to Question. Also the standing reminder that nothing on this board is medical advice.

the food noise going quiet is the effect people came for, and constipation is the toll for the first fortnight

Which day of the week relative to the shot does it hit?

blank_injection is right about the timing. The day-of-week pattern is the diagnostic bit, not the severity.

The fatigue turned out to be that I was eating about a third of what I thought I was. Tracked it for a week and the mystery evaporated.

How long after a step up did this start?

smaller meals, earlier, is the boring advice that works

hair shedding follows the weight loss, not the drug, and it stops

Correction: that is a known effect of reduced intake rather than a direct drug effect. The distinction matters because the fix is different.

Adding to this — holding the dose rather than stepping is the option people forget they have.

Reflux was the one that got me. Stopped eating in the three hours before bed and it went from nightly to almost never.

Nothing in this thread is medical advice, including this comment. I am describing a mechanism, not telling anybody what to do about their own week.

Yes. Holding the dose is a real option and it does not mean you have failed at anything.

About c/sideeffects

Side-effect experience and management, with a strong bias toward the ones that are common and boring (nausea, constipation, reflux, fatigue, sulphur burps) and a hard line on the ones that are not (severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, jaundice, vision changes). This community is not a substitute for urgent care and the mods will say so bluntly.

c/sideeffects rules
  1. Severe or escalating abdominal pain is an urgent-care question, not a forum question. We will lock those threads with a pointer to help.
  2. Describe your dose, your week number and your titration speed — otherwise nobody can help.
  3. No diagnosing strangers. Share what happened to you.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
  9. Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.
