[Struggle] regained 6kg over a winter and i am posting it anyway

Strugglebranch of 13 comments

regained 6kg over a winter and i am posting it anyway. Full detail below, and I have tried to keep the editorialising out of it. Since the title puts numbers in the shop window: 6kg. Wrote down one non-scale thing every week. Reading a year of those back was more affecting than any number. Nobody noticed for months.…

Rate of change is not a virtue. Slower trajectories are as durable as fast ones and are considerably better represented on this board than the front page suggests.

Removed advice aimed at another member. Describe your own experience here.

That is a waist measurement, not a weight, and the thread has been comparing them as though they were the same.

The first thing I noticed was a jacket doing up. The scale had been flat for three weeks at that point.

My goal weight at week one was a number I made up. I have revised it twice since and I am happier for it.

Small correction, kindly meant: that is a range rather than a regain. Weight moves day to day in everybody.

Not convinced comparison helps here. The people posting the fastest results are the tail of a distribution, not the middle.

Stopped reading the fastest posts here for a month and my mood improved considerably.

Yes.

rasmus_mensah is right that the clothes tell you before the scale does.

Rate of change is not a virtue.

Adding the thing I wish someone had said to me — the goal you picked at week one was a guess.

Correcting my own post above — that was week 79, not the week I wrote. Same story, wrong number.

About c/progresspics

Progress posts with no images, by design. Starting point, current point, timeframe, dose history, what changed besides the scale. Text-only removes the comparison trap, the body-shaming pile-on and the entire question of who owns a photo of your torso.
