[Meta] the non-scale victory rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining

Non-Scale Win

the non-scale victory rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining, and it will stay as it is unless somebody makes the case to change it.

Stalled for 19 weeks and measured my waist out of stubbornness. It had moved. The scale had not.

The first thing I noticed was a jacket doing up. The scale had been flat for three weeks at that point.

Nobody noticed for months. Then several people noticed in the same fortnight, which was strange and quite nice.

Not medical advice, obviously, and nothing here is approved for human use. One person with a spreadsheet.

Circumference measurements often continue changing during a scale plateau because composition changes are not visible on a bathroom scale.

8kg over 12 months and honestly the most useful marker was that stairs stopped being a decision.

My goal weight at week one was a number I made up. I have revised it twice since and I am happier for it.

non-scale victories count and they are the ones people remember

Wrote down one non-scale thing every week. Reading a year of those back was more affecting than any number.

Progress posts with no images, by design. Starting point, current point, timeframe, dose history, what changed besides the scale. Text-only removes the comparison trap, the body-shaming pile-on and the entire question of who owns a photo of your torso.
