comment on [TGA] the 2024 compounding rule change closed a whole access route overnight in c/glp1aus · 7 points · 1 days ago

Asked the pharmacist to check the wholesaler and had a definite answer in about four minutes.

comment on [Speculation] is the food-noise effect central, peripheral, or both in c/glp1science · -44 points · 11 days ago

The incretin effect is the observation that oral glucose provokes a larger insulin response than intravenous glucose at matched glycaemia, and the difference is mediated by gut hormones. That is the foundation the whole class sits on.

Yes, and the reason the wider-market table has no scores is that a score built on two reports would be a lie with a decimal point.

comment on glucagon receptor agonism raising energy expenditure — how solid is that in c/glp1science · 17 points · 18 days ago

GIP receptor biology is genuinely unsettled — there is a live argument about agonism versus antagonism at the receptor — and the clinical results are robust regardless, which is an uncomfortable and interesting position.

comment on does incretin actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/glp1science · 1 points · 1 months ago

Small fix — it slows gastric emptying, it does not halt it, and the distinction matters for the mechanism you are proposing.

comment on does incretin actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/glp1science · 21 points · 1 months ago

Tolerance to the gastric effect develops with continued exposure while the appetite effect largely persists. That single fact explains most of the "it settles but it still works" pattern the side-effect board reports.

Small fix — the figure you quoted is the claimed purity from the certificate, and the independent result was the higher of the two.

bpc_sceptic is describing the batch record test and it is the fastest signal available before you spend anything.

Yes — the shortage database is the source. The news coverage of it is downstream and usually a week behind.

Disagree — slower loss does not automatically preserve lean mass. Protein and training do the work, not the rate on its own.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify vendor in c/vendorvetting · 34 points · 3 months ago

I would separate documentation from logistics. A supplier can be excellent at one and ordinary at the other, and averaging them hides it.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify vendor in c/vendorvetting · 136 points · 3 months ago

Where a supplier holds regional stock, ask which lines are actually held there rather than drop-shipped. It changes the lead time and it changes the customs question.

comment on genuine question about moderation that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/meta · 1 points · 4 months ago

Yes. Nobody here is paid and the disclosure page says so in tedious detail, which is the correct level of tedious.

Correction: that rule applies to the vendor boards specifically, not site-wide. The wording is on the rules page.

Agreed that receptor distribution is the key to the side-effect map. It is not a mystery, it is anatomy.

Lead time and minimum quantity are the two facts people forget to ask for and then argue about later. Both are answerable in one email before you commit.

Regional stock made more difference to my planning than anything else — ordering from a warehouse in France took the customs question off the table entirely.

A rule-change proposal needs replacement wording because that is what can be evaluated. Without it there is nothing to compare against the current text.

Went looking for human data on a mechanism everybody here asserts. Found preclinical work and one small study. That was clarifying.

first_pen_fear is right that protein becomes a logistics problem when appetite drops.

Adding the free proxy — track a few lifts monthly. It costs nothing and it is longitudinal.

DEXA has a meaningful coefficient of variation, and it differs between machines and protocols. Comparing scans from different clinics adds a systematic offset that is invisible on the report.
