comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for lowest effective dose posts in c/maintenancephase · 3 points · 4 months ago

the lowest effective dose is a real target and nobody talks about it

This reframing is the most useful thing on the board for anyone approaching this phase.

comment on anyone else notice fatigue kicking in around week 46 in c/sideeffects · 8 points · 4 months ago

On buying things to fix side effects, which I did extensively and would not do again.

This is the shape almost everybody here describes, and it is the single most reassuring thing in the thread.

Incretin-based agents stimulate insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, which is why hypoglycaemia risk with them alone is low. Risk rises with agents that act independently of glycaemia.

nobody warns you about how much of this is timing rather than dose

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify glycaemic control in c/t2dglp1 · 35 points · 5 months ago

postprandial excursions are where most of the improvement shows up first

comment on what would you tell week-1 you about heart rate in c/sideeffects · 39 points · 5 months ago

a rough fortnight at each step is normal, a rough three months is not

permalink

This. A bad fortnight after a step is expected. A bad quarter is a reason to talk to somebody who knows your history.

permalink

comment on is it normal to get reflux at week 5 in c/sideeffects · 118 points · 5 months ago

Are you eating in the couple of hours before you sleep?

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about dose stretching until somebody posts a number in c/maintenancephase · 108 points · 5 months ago

Interval stretching changes the exposure profile: with a week-long half-life, moving to ten or twelve days lowers trough concentration more than it lowers average exposure. That is why appetite return is often the first thing noticed.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify A1c in c/t2dglp1 · 1 points · 5 months ago

Correction: that trial is the diabetes programme and the figure you quoted is its glycaemic endpoint, not a weight result.

comment on small win: maintenance stopped being a problem at week 92 in c/maintenancephase · 11 points · 5 months ago

stretching the interval is not the same as reducing the dose

comment on Spain: cold chain, and what it actually costs here in c/coldchain · 109 points · 5 months ago

Regional stock changes the question rather than answering it: shorter lanes mean less exposure and fewer variables, which is why the warehouse question is worth asking before ordering in summer.

a result with no batch number is about a vial nobody can identify

area percent unless the report says otherwise

permalink

comment on lowest effective dose — my 7-week log, condensed into one table in c/maintenancephase · 3 points · 6 months ago

Right — appetite returns before the scale moves, which is the early signal people miss.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about test results are guesswork in c/labresults · 144 points · 6 months ago

Chain of custody is why member-funded testing is worth more than a supplied certificate: the vial tested is the vial that arrived at a member’s door.

permalink

comment on [Question] France — has anyone got a straight answer on packaging in c/coldchain · 3 points · 7 months ago

Careful. "The cold chain failed" is a strong claim and the evidence you have is a warm box.

a summer lane and a winter lane are different lanes

permalink

comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for lyophilised posts in c/coldchain · 1 points · 8 months ago

Lyophilisation removes the water that drives most degradation pathways. That is why the dry cake is comparatively robust and the reconstituted solution is not.

comment on dose stretching: what the trials say vs what this community says in c/maintenancephase · 18 points · 8 months ago

Wrote down what maintenance would look like at about week 31, before I needed it. Having decided in advance made the transition boring.

comment on is it normal to get reflux at week 68 in c/glp1muscle · 33 points · 9 months ago

I would not change the programme on the strength of one scan. The measurement error is larger than the effect you are reacting to.

Right, and the habits from the losing phase are the part that has to outlive the dose.

Kept fingersticks alongside the sensor for two weeks to sanity-check it. Worth doing once.

Agreed on quoting the claim alongside the result. Half the arguments here are two people comparing to different reference numbers.

It is a triple agonist at the GLP-1, GIP and glucagon receptors. The glucagon arm is the genuinely novel component and it is the one with the least human outcome data behind it.

I would not treat appetite returning as a sign of doing it wrong. It is the expected sequence.

permalink

Agreed. Slowing down at meals did more for my constipation than everything I bought to fix it, which was embarrassing to discover.

I would not post that as a finding. It is a single result and the template asks you to say so.
