comment on [Explainer] area% is not mass% and here is exactly why it matters in c/coa · 6 points · 4 days ago

the counterion is part of the mass you paid for

comment on which fields turn a COA from a specification into a result in c/coa · 29 points · 7 days ago

UV at 214nm sees the peptide bond and picks up almost everything; at 280nm you are looking at aromatics only. Which wavelength the number came from is part of the number.

comment on [COA] what does "related substances 1.4%" actually mean for my vial in c/coa · 4 points · 11 days ago

Yes — and the reason to ask for the whole page is that the interesting parts are the ones people crop out to fit a screenshot.

Adding the bit that always gets missed: the lot on the vial has to match the lot on the page, or none of this applies to your material.

comment on [Question] vendor COA says 99.2%, my Janoshik came back 97.4%. who is wrong in c/coa · 0 points · 20 days ago

The PDF creation date being later than the analysis date is usually a re-issue or a re-export. It is worth one question and it is not evidence of anything on its own.

comment on [Data] packaging quality by vendor, scored on five things, 60 shipments in c/intlshipping · 12 points · 22 days ago

That is the quoted lead time, not the observed transit. Both belong in the report and they are different columns.

comment on Spain: carrier, and what it actually costs here in c/intlshipping · 3 points · 28 days ago

Same lane, four orders, 14 to 8 days, all four within a couple of days of the quote. That consistency is the actual finding.

comment on shipping is the most under-discussed thing on this board in c/intlshipping · 5 points · 1 months ago

Same. SWB quoted 20 days on my lane and it landed at 8, which is exactly what you want from a quote.

comment on [Lab] 6th independent test on HJ — 99.1% on a claimed 99.0%, and the trend is the interesting part in c/coa · 110 points · 1 months ago

Agreed on asking for the storage condition. It is one line and it changes how you read the entire stability claim.

permalink

comment on [Question] Canada — has anyone got a straight answer on DHL in c/intlshipping · 12 points · 1 months ago

Packaging is assessable on arrival with no equipment: rigid outer, no movement inside, the cold element sized to the transit rather than to the box.

comment on how much of what we believe about area percent actually comes from COA threads in c/coa · 56 points · 1 months ago

Net peptide content is the fraction of the powder that is actually peptide once counterion, water and residual solvent are accounted for.

Disagree on this specific point. Two honest labs can resolve that impurity differently and report different numbers.

comment on [Meta] the 503A rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining in c/compounding · 13 points · 1 months ago

Concentration on the compounded vial was different from what I had been using and I nearly did the arithmetic on autopilot.

Adding one thing — ask for the facility name. Most will give it, and the ones that will not have answered you.

Pushing back a little: a missing field is usually presentation, not concealment. Ask for the full document before drawing conclusions.

Who is the prescriber, and are they the same organisation as the pharmacy?

Was there potency testing on the finished preparation, or only on the starting material?

Is the compound still on the shortage list where you are?

Does the lot on the vial match the lot on the page?

comment on [Lab] 18th independent test on HJ — 99.2% on a claimed 99.0%, and the trend is the interesting part in c/coa · 14 points · 3 months ago

Correction: that is net peptide content, not purity. Different number, different meaning, and the document says so if you read the row label.

Did you ask for the batch-specific document, or is this the catalogue one?

I would not read a rounded figure as evasive. Plenty of documents round to one decimal as house style.

comment on reading 503B threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly in c/compounding · 1 points · 3 months ago

Correction: patient-specific refers to the prescription, not to a bespoke formulation.

Agreed — and the follow-up question is what the beyond-use date is based on.

This is the sentence to take away. The rest of the thread is footnotes to it.

I would not read a single slow shipment as a lane change. Post it and let the median move if it is real.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring packaging at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/intlshipping · 13 points · 3 months ago

That is a packaging observation, not a transit observation.

Disagreeing with this bit: a single slow shipment does not move a lane, it joins the distribution.

Asked for the beyond-use date basis and got a real answer with a stability reference attached. Not universal, apparently.

A lane is an origin, a destination, a carrier and a season.

This is why the lane table is organised the way it is. The supplier is not the unit.
