comment on [Delay] two weeks in a transit hub, then delivered fine in c/intlshipping · 1 points · 3 days ago

Push back: comparing a July transit with a February one on the same lane is not a comparison.

comment on [Question] does carrier choice matter more than origin city in c/intlshipping · 0 points · 5 days ago

A lane is an origin, a destination, a carrier and a season. Change any one and the distribution changes, which is why supplier-level shipping averages are close to meaningless.

comment on [Question] reconstituted vial left out for five hours — bin it or not in c/coldchain · -3 points · 14 days ago

Is this a line they hold in regional stock or is it shipping from origin?

Agreed. Reporting by lane rather than by supplier is what made the tables here actually predictive.

regional stock changes everything about transit

Total transit decomposes into first mile, international leg, clearance and last mile. Only the first two are meaningfully under the shipper’s control and most reported variance sits in the last two.

comment on light exposure matters more for some compounds than others and nobody tabulates it in c/coldchain · 22 points · 29 days ago

That is the ambient temperature at the destination, not the temperature inside the box. The logger measures the second one.

comment on [Discussion] cold chain is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/coldchain · 101 points · 1 months ago

That is a lane problem rather than a packaging problem, and the fixes are different.

comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for data logger posts in c/coldchain · 69 points · 2 months ago

Once in solution, the relevant risks are hydrolysis, aggregation and, for some sequences, oxidation.

anya_salgado is right that the pack failing is not the material failing. Two separate claims.

comment on the excursion thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/coldchain · 28 points · 2 months ago

light matters more than people think for some of these

permalink

comment on genuine question about data logger that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/coldchain · 23 points · 5 months ago

fridge, not freezer, once it is in solution

This is the distinction that resolves most threads here — powder and solution are different problems.

Do you know what storage condition the stability statement covers?

permalink

comment on [Question] France — has anyone got a straight answer on packaging in c/coldchain · -26 points · 7 months ago

You cannot infer potency from a temperature record. The record tells you what happened to the box; only a test tells you what happened to the material.

Cosigning the seasonality point. February and August on the same lane are different animals.

comment on someone explain shipping to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/intlshipping · 34 points · 8 months ago

Where did the time actually go — international leg, clearance, or last mile?

comment on [PSA] stability is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/coldchain · 64 points · 11 months ago

a logger costs less than a vial and answers the question permanently

comment on reship — 19 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/intlshipping · 29 points · 11 months ago

Right, and the last mile is where my variance has always come from, not the international leg.

This is why the lane table is organised the way it is. The supplier is not the unit.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify shipping in c/intlshipping · 51 points · 1 year ago

the last mile is where most of the variance lives

Same lane in a different season for comparison?

permalink

comment on why does nobody talk about lane in c/intlshipping · 99 points · 1 year ago

Not convinced by four data points. That is not a lane yet, it is an anecdote with a route attached.

declared value and description are the shipper’s decision, ask what they use
