unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about carrier is guesswork
unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about carrier is guesswork. It is the sort of thing everyone half-believes and nobody writes down. Total transit decomposes into first mile, international leg, clearance and last mile. Only the first two are meaningfully under the shipper’s control and most reported…
Where did the time actually go — international leg, clearance, or last mile?
Push back: comparing a July transit with a February one on the same lane is not a comparison.
two identical orders a week apart is the cheapest experiment available
two identical orders a week apart is the cheapest experiment available
Disagreeing with this bit: a single slow shipment does not move a lane, it joins the distribution.
What was the packaging like on arrival?
Correction: that was clearance time, not carrier time. The lane table separates them for exactly this reason.
origin, destination, carrier, month — post all four or the report is noise
Posted my first lane report here without the month and got asked for it. Fair, and the table is better for the fussiness.

rohan_cardoso is right about regional stock. It changes the shape of the distribution, not just the mean.
This. A quoted lead time that holds is worth more than a fast one that does not.
