[Discussion] AU and NZ get lumped together and the systems are nothing alike

Discussion

AU and NZ get lumped together and the systems are nothing alike. It is the sort of thing everyone half-believes and nobody writes down.

Checked the shortage database myself instead of reading the coverage. Expected resolution date was right there and the panic thread was wrong.

Rang three pharmacies for a private price and got three different numbers, all in the same city.

Assumed the New Zealand position applied here. It does not, and someone corrected me politely with the actual source.

Research-use-only material is not approved for human use and nothing here should be read as a recommendation to use it.

Australia and New Zealand have different regulators, different funding bodies and different arrangements. An answer for one is not evidence about the other.

Country added to the title. Australia and New Zealand answers differ and the thread was unusable without it.

Cosigning on asking the pharmacy to check the wholesaler. It converts speculation into a fact in one phone call.

Asked the pharmacist to check the wholesaler and had a definite answer in about four minutes.

Right, and the compounded supply position moved. Threads from two years ago are describing a different situation.

Same. Private pricing varies here as much as anywhere and people assume it is fixed.

Compounded supply arrangements have changed materially in recent years. Advice predating that change describes a situation that no longer applies.

This. New Zealand has its own regulator and its own funding decisions and the answers genuinely differ.

Someone posted US advice in an Australian thread and it took four replies to untangle it. Say your country.

Agreed. Registration and subsidy are separate decisions and half the confusion here is treating them as one.

Personal importation provisions exist, are narrow, and carry conditions. Any summary of them here should be checked against the current official wording rather than a forum post.

Before you read on

Several compounds discussed on GLP Research Hub are sold for research use only and are not approved for human use anywhere. Nothing here is medical advice and none of it is written by your clinician. If a post reads like an instruction, treat it as a description of what one stranger did.
