comment on is 96.8% area% actually fine or am i being sold a rounding error in c/coa · 141 points · 1 days ago

and 96.8 would pass plenty of legitimate specifications. compendial limits for related substances are not 0.5% across the board — people in here have anchored on a number that came from marketing copy rather than from any standard.

Left up. It describes an arrangement with specifics and it is honest about the jurisdiction.

compendial reporting conventions actually specify significant figures for exactly this reason. edit: and they specify fewer than most people report.

Compounded supply arrangements have changed materially in recent years. Advice predating that change describes a situation that no longer applies.

Small fix — the shedding follows the rate of weight loss, not the compound, and it is temporary.

Three scans over eighteen months, same machine, same conditions. Only the third one made the first two interpretable.

Kept a one-line-a-day log for two months. The pattern was obvious on paper and invisible in my head.

Agree. The verification log is the part with the checkable facts in it; the number at the top is just a summary of a lot of averaging.

Most of the common complaints trace back to slowed gastric emptying — early fullness, reflux, nausea after a large or fatty meal. That is also why meal size and speed change the experience more than anything else.

Small fix — insulin resistance is a feature commonly seen in PCOS, not a synonym for it.

comment on contraception: the version I wish someone had shown me in week 1 in c/glp1women · 7 points · 26 days ago

The same dose genuinely feels different at different points in the month for me.

Adding the one thing nobody warns about — fertility can change, and quickly.

Started logging the cycle in the same sheet as the dose. Three months later the pattern was obvious and it had been invisible before.

Agreed — and same machine, same conditions, or the two scans are not comparable.

burned_once_twice is right about the concentration trap. It breaks arithmetic that has been reliable for months.

Mild pushback: a supplier with fewer entries is not worse, it is less sampled. Those are different claims and the table says so.

comment on what would you tell week-1 you about fatigue in c/sideeffects · -18 points · 2 months ago

On buying things to fix side effects, which I did extensively and would not do again.

The interventions that changed anything for me were all behavioural and free: smaller meals, eating slower, stopping food a few hours before sleep, more fibre and considerably more water. The things I bought did nothing I could detect, and I was motivated to detect something.

The other lever, which people forget, is time at dose. Holding rather than stepping is a legitimate plan and it fixed my tolerance where nothing else did.

comment on maintenance is the most under-discussed thing on this board in c/maintenancephase · 19 points · 2 months ago

Appetite returning before the scale moves follows from the mechanism: the appetite effect is the proximal one and weight is the lagging integrated out

This reframing is the most useful thing on the board for anyone approaching this phase.

comment on [Meta] the vendor rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining in c/vendorvetting · 85 points · 2 months ago

Inter-lab variance on this assay runs a point or two either way. Two services disagreeing by that much is agreement, not a discrepancy, and treating it otherwise starts pointless arguments.

permalink

comment on why does nobody talk about below spec in c/labresults · 7 points · 2 months ago

That service reports area percent by default. Worth stating, since the thread has been comparing it to a mass figure.

comment on constipation: the version I wish someone had shown me in week 1 in c/sideeffects · 186 points · 3 months ago

I would be careful here. "Everyone gets this" is not true, and it makes the people who get something unusual assume they are fine when they should be asking.

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about telehealth is guesswork in c/compounding · 33 points · 3 months ago

The shortage list is the legal hinge: the permissions that allow certain compounding to happen at scale are tied to a drug’s shortage status, which changes.
