three years of carrier threads, summarised so you do not have to read them

Discussion Cold Box ×3 Long Haul ×1 Receipts ×2

three years of carrier threads, summarised so you do not have to read them — a position I have arrived at slowly and would like tested.

A quoted lead time is a commitment you can evaluate. Measuring quoted against actual across several orders tells you more about an operation than the raw speed does.

Same lane, four orders, 12 to 8 days, all four within a couple of days of the quote. That consistency is the actual finding.

A lane is an origin, a destination, a carrier and a season. Change any one and the distribution changes, which is why supplier-level shipping averages are close to meaningless.

Would rather be corrected in public than confident in private.

Total transit decomposes into first mile, international leg, clearance and last mile. Only the first two are meaningfully under the shipper’s control and most reported variance sits in the last two.

Posted my first lane report here without the month and got asked for it. Fair, and the table is better for the fussiness.

Packaging is assessable on arrival with no equipment: rigid outer, no movement inside, the cold element sized to the transit rather than to the box.

Same. ERP quoted 20 days on my lane and it landed at 8, which is exactly what you want from a quote.

About c/intlshipping

Shipping-lane intelligence: origin to destination, carrier, quoted versus actual transit, packaging quality and reship outcomes. The community lane table lives here. Tracking numbers are removed on sight because they identify both ends of the shipment.
