[Question] protein target in g/kg — of current weight or goal weight

Question

protein target in g/kg — of current weight or goal weight, and I want the answer with the reasoning attached rather than just the conclusion.

Kept the same programme for a year instead of changing it every six weeks. That was the change that worked.

Nothing here is a training or nutrition prescription. Targets and programmes are matters for somebody who knows your history and your training background.

Two scans on the same machine 11 months apart. Lean mass held better than I expected and the lifts told the same story for free.

Screenshot none of this. Read the whole thread, including the parts where I am told I am wrong.

Strength retention is an imperfect but free longitudinal proxy: it is affected by neural factors and by being in a deficit, so it tracks tissue change loosely rather than exactly.

Left up. Same machine, stated conditions, honest about the error margin.

a single DEXA is a number, two is a comparison, three is a trend

I would not change the programme on the strength of one scan. The measurement error is larger than the effect you are reacting to.

Cosigning that protein gets harder precisely when appetite drops. That is the actual difficulty and it is logistical.

  1. Body-composition claims need a method. Bathroom BIA scales are not a method.
  2. Protein targets in g/kg, not "lots".
  3. No supplement selling, no coaching solicitation.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
