comment on why does nobody talk about mechanism in c/glp1science · 17 points · 10 months ago

Glucose-dependent insulin secretion is why hypoglycaemia risk is low as monotherapy: the effect scales with glycaemia rather than acting unconditionally.

Week 78 was the first time the scale moved after a five-week stall. I changed nothing in that window.

Storage guidance that names a temperature, a state and a duration reflects actual stability work.

britt_zamora is right that a purity figure without a method is not comparable to one with a method.

Asked TFC which lines they keep in regional stock versus make to order and got a clear split. It changed what I ordered.

That is a sensor value, not a plasma value, and the two are not interchangeable at that level of precision.

GLP-1 receptor agonism acts both peripherally — insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent way, slowed gastric emptying — and centrally, on appetite regulation. The central component is the better explanation for sustained intake reduction.

Was completely wrong about the gastric emptying story in a thread here two years ago. Someone corrected me with a citation and I have not made that mistake since.

Correction to my own post above — I said 10mg and I have been on 2.5mg since the spring. Same argument, wrong number.

Cross-border prescription recognition exists under EU rules but is conditional and narrower than commonly assumed, with requirements about the prescription’s form and content.

Agreed — and normalising pack size before comparing prices is the fix for half these threads.

Correction: that is the authorisation position, and the question was about reimbursement. Different bodies, different answers.

GIP receptor biology is genuinely unsettled — there is a live argument about agonism versus antagonism at the receptor — and the clinical results are robust regardless, which is an uncomfortable and interesting position.

Do muscle cramps follow the day after the shot, or is it spread across the week?

This. The step interval is a floor, and reading it as a timetable is the most expensive mistake in the thread.

The incretin effect is the observation that oral glucose provokes a larger insulin response than intravenous glucose at matched glycaemia, and the dif

A1c reflects average glycaemia over roughly the preceding three months, weighted towards the most recent weeks. It cannot show variability and it lags any change you make.

I would separate the two claims. That the GIP arm exists is uncontroversial; that it explains your food noise pattern is a guess.
