[Meta] the progress rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining

Discussion

the progress rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining. Nothing about this affects the ranking maths, before anyone asks.

Stopped reading the fastest posts here for a month and my mood improved considerably.

37kg over 13 months and honestly the most useful marker was that stairs stopped being a decision.

Wrote down one non-scale thing every week. Reading a year of those back was more affecting than any number.

Tell me where this is wrong. That is the useful part of posting it.

Nothing on this board is medical advice, and rate, target and method are questions for somebody who knows your history.

Nobody noticed for months. Then several people noticed in the same fortnight, which was strange and quite nice.

a plateau is not a failure and it is not a personality

Stalled for 19 weeks and measured my waist out of stubbornness. It had moved. The scale had not.

The boring middle lasted the longest and it is the part I am most proud of.

My goal weight at week one was a number I made up. I have revised it twice since and I am happier for it.

Is the goal you set at the start still the goal?

Body weight varies by a couple of kilos day to day through fluid, glycogen and gut content, which is why a single weigh-in is noise and a fortnightly trend is signal.

Careful — that reads as advice about what someone else should do, and this board is for describing your own.

Did the clothes change before the number did for you too?

How are you keeping track — spreadsheet, notebook, nothing?

Push back on the goal number. You chose it before you knew what any of this felt like.

About c/progresspics

Progress posts with no images, by design. Starting point, current point, timeframe, dose history, what changed besides the scale. Text-only removes the comparison trap, the body-shaming pile-on and the entire question of who owns a photo of your torso.
