four countries, same product, same week, 2.4x spread. Making the case below, and I expect to lose some of it in the comments.
Read the published reimbursement criteria where I live rather than asking. Took twenty minutes and answered everything.
Compared prices across two neighbouring countries and found the difference was mostly pack size once I normalised it.

Pharmacy margins and dispensing fees are regulated nationally, which explains price differences that otherwise look arbitrary.
I would not treat one pharmacy’s quote as a national price. The variation within a country is often larger than between them.
The translation cost of dealing with a foreign pharmacy was the thing I had not budgeted for.
That shortage notice was national and does not apply where the question is coming from.

Supply notices are issued nationally. A notice in one member state does not imply availability problems in another, even for the same product.
A supply notice in one member state made the front page here and had no effect at all where I am.
Right, and a shortage notice in one country tells you very little about the next one along.
